A word from the president
You are welcome to the website of the Irish Nephrology Society. The Irish Nephrology Society is comprised of doctors and scientists working in the care of patients with kidney disease, either at a clinical or research level.
Kidney disease can take many forms from mild inflammation of the kidney such as hypertension or protein in the urine through to kidney failure, dialysis or kidney transplantation. The mission of the Irish Nephrology Society is to ensure a high quality care for patients with kidney disease by promoting the highest standard of medical practice. It has an integral role in the education and training of medical practitioners and advises the government, public and the profession on health care issues relating to kidney disease. The website is designed to act as a useful resource that will highlight the problems of kidney disease, provide information to both healthcare professionals and the general public. It will also act as means of communicating with our trainees and members of our society. The society holds two meetings each year, the details of which can be accessed on this website. It has provided guidelines to the early detection and management of kidney disease. Over the coming months we hope to publish additional guidelines regarding other aspects of kidney disease. It also, with support of its pharmaceutical sponsors, provides travelling fellowships for doctors in training in order to improve their expertise. I hope you find this website useful. We would welcome any feedback as to what can be done to improve our website and I can be contacted on my email:
